MalX is a cybersecurity platform that enables researchers and organizations to develop, handle, and distribute Python-based vulnerability tests. All the tests are based on the classification system of MITRE and assist a user in addressing various kinds of security threats.
The client requested Design Stratum to build the whole platform from scratch. The aim was to come up with a system that is reliable and easy to use by both the security teams and the administrators.
As a UI/UX consultant, we decided to create a convenient interface for MalX that will help to streamline the process of cybersecurity testing. Using our UI/UX design and development services, we developed a high-fidelity dashboard in which users can browse tests, download executables, and manage or edit test creation.
The design aids the administrators as well as the ordinary users, as they can easily access testing tools and system controls. Being a team of UI and UX designer and developer professionals, we included elements such as Test Detail and Package Drawers with visual indicators to demonstrate the availability of executables. We also added package management capabilities that let users execute test packages and allow admins to update or create new ones. To assist developers further, we integrated REST API documentation generated using the drf yasg library, showing all the endpoints and data formats used across the system.
During the development phase, we developed MalX into a full-scale enterprise web application. As a frontend web development firm, we paid attention to performance and usability. The main system consists of a Python-based compiler that is executed into runnable files, which is automatically invoked whenever a test or test update is made. This is run through Celery and Docker containers that have been preconfigured with PyInstaller. The files compiled are stored in a common database, accessible system wide, Our approach to SaaS web application development ensures cross-platform compatibility, reduced deployment issues, and aligns with best practices in custom web applications development.
